Orphan and Needy Support Program — education for orphans and children deprived of care
For a child who has lost a parent, or who grows up without consistent care, school is often the first thing to slip away. Our Orphan and Needy Support Program (ONSP) gives these children free, quality education along with books, uniforms, school bags, and shoes, so poverty and loss never decide their future.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Without support, orphans are often the first children forced out of school
When a family loses its breadwinner, education quickly becomes a luxury. A widow may be forced to choose between her child’s schooling and the family’s survival. GEF’s orphan support goes beyond the word “orphan”: we reach every child deprived of consistent, nurturing care, and give them free education and the practical support they need to stay in school and break the cycle of poverty.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
Over 5,000 children across 35 rural districts have found hope through ONSP.
ONSP was born from a simple belief: every child deprived of care deserves a chance to learn. Today GEF supports 4,400 orphans and needy students with free education, school essentials, and care. Even through challenges like the pandemic, the program has kept going, and with your support it can reach many more children still waiting for their chance.
